Planting:

Haskap berries are typically planted in the fall or spring, but can also be planted in the summer if cared for properly. They prefer well-drained soil and full sun, but can also tolerate partial shade. It is important to choose a site that is protected from strong winds. It is recommended to plant at least two different varieties of haskap berries to ensure cross-pollination and a good yield.

For haskap planting machine, we recommend the planting machine Daria is designed for easy and fast planting of Haskap seedlings. (Watch Video)

  • Should be spaced about 50 cm to 80 cm between plants.
  • Space between rows about 3.5 m to 4 m
  • Space at the end of the row to the fence is around 6 m to 10 m depending on the type of mechanical harvester
  • Shrub height from 1 m up to 2 m
  • Haskap plants can stand alone without any support
  • The Haskap berry can be planted in flat rows as well as in raised beds

Care:

Haskap berries require regular watering, especially during dry periods. They can also benefit from regular fertilization with a balanced fertilizer.

Pruning:

Cut out a quarter of the branches each year, aiming to remove old non-productive, weak growth, and low-lying branches. With the berry pruning, machine FORMER is able to cut the lower branches to stimulate strong growth from or near the base, and remove weak shoots, and any dead wood.

Trimmer for berry plantation

The Haskap pruning machine is designed to prune and form rows of berry bushes into V-shaped shrubs. It is an important step in preparations for a fast and efficient harvesting of berry bushes by using the V-shaped technology of mechanical harvest.

For organic Haskap berries

Grass cover, weeding and mowing under the bushes and between the rows are the most important for organic haskap berries. We offer a full line of mechanical and hydraulic hoeing machines to control weeds in haskap plantations for both young and mature bushes. The weeders are designed mainly for berry plantations.
